Label Artwork
Tom Killion was born and raised in Mill Valley, California, on the slopes of Mount Tamalpais, one of the mountains visible from and depicted on Fission's Alta Vista vineyard label. The rugged scenery of Marin County and Northern California inspired him from an early age to create landscape prints using linoleum and wood, strongly influenced by the traditional Japanese woodcuts of the early 19th century. He has been recognized and his work exhibited globally. Above all, if you have visited the Bay Area, it is likely you have seen his prints; it is hard to think of an artist so tied to the California landscape.

As if the Alta Vista vineyard was not enchanting enough, from its western face you can see one of Tom Killion's muses, Mount Tamalpais. The head pruned vines, forest, Sonoma Valley plains, Mount Tam, and almost San Francisco are visible in this beautifully proportioned and complexly layered print.

Bald Mountain's remoteness and altitude are quite magical. You feel alone in the redwood forest atop the ridgeline, with nothing but brush, rock and a few isolated vineyards around you. The mountain, the Pacific, Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley - this point is a real epicenter of the unique, greatest growing conditions in California.
